Your morning routine sets the stage for the rest of your day. If you don’t get off on the right foot, it can impact your performance and quality of life. To boost both, here are some tips to keep in mind:
Get a good night’s sleep.
One of the biggest factors that can drain you during the day is not getting a good night’s sleep. So set a bed time and stick to it. It’s tempting to watch just one more show on Netflix; however, this will impact how you feel all day in a negative way.
Prepare for the next day.
Make preparation a part of your bedtime routine. Get your business papers in order that you need to bring into the office and set the timer on the coffee maker. If you have kids, make their lunches and pick out their outfits ahead of time to reduce morning chaos.
Wake up a little earlier.
Once you’re going to bed earlier, it will be easier to wake up a bit earlier, so you can ease into your day. Take a few minutes to wake up, walk through your to-do’s for your day, and mentally prepare. When you’re not in a rush in the morning, you’ll start off the day in a better mood and with more energy.
Eat a healthy breakfast.
If you don’t have the fuel to start your day, your productivity will take a hit. Instead, make sure you have some easy, nutritious options for breakfast each morning. This can include anything as simply as some Greek Yogurt and fruit, a protein shake, or a granola bar.
Work exercise into your morning schedule.
If you don’t exercise, it’s easy for stress and tension to build up. When you work out, though, even if it’s just a few days a week, you’ll feel better, reduce anxiety, and improve your physical and mental health. If you have a hard time with exercising in the morning, start off small with a short walk 2-3 days a week.
